Pfeiffer women host Falcon Shootout
The Pfeiffer University women’s golf team completed one final tune-up Tuesday before the USA South Championship by hosting the Falcon Shootout at the par-71, 5,669-yard Colonial Country Club in Thomasville.
Pfeiffer was paced by freshman Kirstyn Page, as she shot a two-day total of 161 (+19) to finish in 10th place in the field of 33 golfers. The finish marks the fourth top-10 finish for Page in her debut season for the Falcons. Page shot an 80 (+9) on day one and followed with an 81 (+10) on day two.
Fellow freshman Ella Couper claimed 19th place with a 170 (+28). Couper shot an 80 (+9) on the second round of the tournament to tie Page for the Falcons’ low-round of the tournament.
Lynchburg took the team title by placing six golfers in the top eight while finishing with a two-day total of 613 (+45). Pfeiffer finished in fourth place with a two-day score of 681 (+113)
Individually, Berry’s Teagan Fritts claimed medalist honors by shooting a 69 (-2) on day one and followed with a 77 (+6) on day two to finish with a 146 (+4), one stroke better than Lynchburg’s Emily Brubaker.
The Falcons will turn their focus to the USA South Championship. The league championship will be at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina on April 22-24.
