Stanly Arts Guild announces winners of Summer Art Explosion
The Stanly Arts Guild and Gifts has announced the winners of the the Summer Art Explosion Show.
The judge for the show was Anthony R. Pernell, who has had 35 years experience teaching art, with two years at the middle school level and 33 years at the high school level.
There were two categories for the show, 2-D and 3-D art.
Winners in the 2-D category are Dwayne Burns, first place for “Saddlemaker;” Randy Fike, second place for “11;” and Marshall Davis, third place for “Bird Dog.”
Honorable mentions went to Robert Cooper for “Better Days” and to Pauline Furr for “Hanging On.”
Winners in the 3-D category are Marjel Jones, first place for “Papa’s Turn;” Shakeeka Brooks, second place for “Roots;” and Michelle Efird, third place for “Summer Necklace.”
Honorable mentions went to Karen Lowder for “Ride the Wild Hog” and to Shakeeka Brooks for “Sunshine.”
The Arts Guild will have a reception for the artists 6-8 p.m. Aug. 6.
The public is invited to see this show. The Guild store is at 330-C N. Second St. in Albemarle.
The show continues through Aug. 6. Store hours are 12-4 p.m. Wednesday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
