Friendship establishes Stanly Community College scholarship

The Stanly Community College Foundation has announced the establishment of the Gene Eudy Endowed Scholarship by Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was a member.

Eudy was a retired truck driver for C&A in Albemarle and enjoyed gardening and fishing along the coast. He was a very active member of the church and had a passion for both feeding the hungry and encouraging the opportunities for continued education before passing away in 2015.

The scholarship is for $1,000 ($500/fall and $500/spring) for eligible students, and will be available on an ongoing basis starting the fall 2022 semester. Scholarship applications are now being accepted, and are located on the financial aid page at  www.stanly.edu.

In addition to the endowed scholarship, the church made a $450 contribution to the SCC Student Emergency Fund, which helps students faced with financial obstacles during their studies at the college with up to $300 funding a year.
