A person has been charged following the Jan. 12 accident in Oakboro that left a woman dead and her son in the hospital.

Whitney Caudle of Albemarle has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving left of center, according to Highway Patrol Sgt. Adam Bost.

Bost said the case is still under investigation.

Emily Keene of Oakboro died in the wreck on Liberty Hill Church Road. Her 5-year-old son, Matthew, was released from the hospital on Jan. 19.
