PEEKING INTO THE PAST – Baptized

According to records at the Stanly Baptist Association, in September 1943, the 11 original members of Kinza Memorial Baptist Church met to form their new church. The church first met under a brush arbor near the location of the current building on Love Mill Road. Sunday school was held in nearby homes. Construction of the church building began in 1944. It was built on land given by Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Morgan in memory of their infant daughter. The church added a parsonage in 1957, followed by an educational building in 1961. The fellowship building was added in 1971 and further expansion of the church took place during 2002-2004. An interesting side note in the church history is that one afternoon in 1949 nearly 70 people were baptized into the church. Today’s picture shows nearly that many Kinza church members, ready to be baptized, but the exact date of this photo is not known. {Lewis Bramlett – Stanly County Historical Society}
