West Stanly takes 5-2 win over Maiden

West Stanly’s softball team advanced to the next round of the playoffs with a 5-2 win over Maiden Tuesday night.

Senior Teagan Ritchie scored two runs on one hit, while seniors Elizabeth Ingle and Payton Little and junior Lilly Hartsell each scored a run for the Colts.

Ingle, Little and senior Carmen McRae also had RBIs, as did senior Lily Huneycutt and junior Aliyah Rush.

West (26-1) will now take on McMichael (27-0) at 6 p.m. Friday in Mayoden for a trip to the final four of the state playoffs.

“Every member of our team played a huge role in our win against Maiden. They are truly a family and will fight for each other, no matter what the circumstances are,” head coach Emily Smith said. “It is great to see them come together and complete the goal at hand. I am extremely proud of them. We are continuing to work hard each day as we move into our next game on Friday.”
