Nonprofit pharmacy to host medicine giveaway in Albemarle

The free over-the-counter medicine giveaway will return to the E.E. Waddell Community Center, 621 Wall St., Albemarle, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 14.

NC MedAssist, a nonprofit pharmacy, provides access to prescription medications to qualified uninsured North Carolina residents.

It also provides over-the-counter medications at no cost to everyone during its Mobile Free Pharmacy events, like the one in Albemarle, or at its store in Charlotte.

OTC medicines include items for cold, cough, flu and pain relief as well as vitamins and children’s medicines.

To request specific medications, individuals can pre-order online at www.medassist.org/mobile through 1 p.m. July 7.

No appointment or pre-registration is required.

Although there is no income or ID requirement to receive products, individuals must be 18 years or older.
