Stanly County Community Foundation grants more than $54K to nonprofits
The Stanly County Community Foundation recently awarded more than $54,000 in grants this year to 19 nonprofits. The grants will support projects and programs that address investment areas of education, health, housing and human services.
The Foundation chose grants from organizations and programs that strive to increase stability and opportunity for individuals and families in Stanly County.
Grants from this cycle include $8,000 to Stanly Community Christian Ministry to provide crisis assistance for families and individuals in Stanly County; $4,000 to Bridge to Recovery for their women’s treatment program; and $4,000 to Older Adult Services in Stanly County to provide no cost ramps for wheelchair users of Stanly County.
Stanly County Community Foundation is a regional affiliate of Charlotte-based Foundation For The Carolinas, and the grants are awarded by the local Stanly County Community Foundation Board of Advisors.
“The Stanly County Community Foundation is pleased to have the opportunity to make impactful grants to so many non-profit organizations again in 2023,” said Roger Dick, chairman of the Board of Advisors. “These organizations work tirelessly for the betterment of Stanly County, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support their missions.”
One recipient of grant funds this year was Safer Communities Ministry, which works within the local community by providing assistance and support to ex-offenders, addicts and their families. Their mission is to come alongside those who are struggling and help reintegrate them back into society. Their goal is for everyone to be rehabilitated and for broken families to be restored.
“Children are often the unintended victims of addictions,” said Sharon Shearin, program director. “Our program mirrors the Celebrate Recovery Adult 12-step program to help the children of those in the adult program discover new coping techniques and truths to overcome the cycles of hurts.”
