Norwood Town Council to name interim town administrator, discuss water rate adjustments

The agenda for the upcoming May meeting of the Norwood Town Council includes discussion and proposed action on naming an interim town administrator.

According to the agenda, Ray Allen, the former long-time manager for the City of Albemarle and a former interim administrator of Norwood, has been proposed to fill the vacancy.

Scott Howard, the town’s previous administrator, has been hired as the new town administrator for Ayden.

The council will also set a meeting time to discuss the budget for the next fiscal year.

Norwood’s council members will also discuss proposed changes to the water/wastewater policy. The changes are to “provide a uniform and nondiscriminatory way to adjust water and/or sewer charges to a residential customer’s utility bill.”

Adjustments, per the policy, will be only for residential customers and can only happen once in a 24-month period. The adjustment would come only after “satisfactory proof” of a leak being repaired.

No adjustments would be made in the following cases: water that runs through the wastewater system, accidental water use or activities such as pressure washing and “watering of lawns, gardens, etc.”

The Norwood Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the town hall building.
