Names released in Badin Memorial Day shooting

Badin Police Chief Stephen Smith has released the names of the parties involved in a shooting incident from Memorial Day. (Note: Further details of the shooting are in the following story link:  https://www.thesnaponline.com/2021/05/31/shooting-on-memorial-day-holiday-in-badin-leads-to-arrest/ )

Stacy Ann Cosgrove, 42, of 607 Marion St., was shot in the back while attempting to lock her door, police said.

The suspect arrested was Raven Checole Diggs, 26, of 604 Marion St.

According to Smith, when Badin Sgt. Jeremy Forsythe arrived on the scene, a vehicle was leaving. After advising communications of the vehicle’s description, members of the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office located and stopped the vehicle in the Dollar General parking lot. Along with the suspect, two handguns and ammunition were located in the vehicle.

Cosgrove was airlifted to Charlotte with non-life threatening injuries.

Diggs has been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. She received a $50,000 unsecured bond with a June 15 court date.
